Gary and Ruth will share their joint learnings from the worlds of sport and business that demonstrate how identity is the strongest common denominator across the high performing teams that they’ve worked with in both sport and business.

Drawing on their experience they will discuss how identity drives performance through collective purpose, shared standards and accountability.

About Gary

Gary is the CEO of Uppercut, a high-performance advisory for organisations and executives and a performance coach for many top players and teams including Leinster Rugby, Tipperary hurlers and Dublin footballers. He is the former Director of the Irish Institute of Sport. Through his leadership the Institute created an environment of support ensuring that talented Irish athletes achieve sustained levels of excellence in elite sport.

Gary previously spent six years as Performance Director with the IABA’s high performance boxing programme, where he and his team devised a world class management programme which helped lead to the team winning 29 major European, World and Olympic medals. He is a regular speaker in the areas of leadership, transformation programmes, culture, strategy and high performance and contributes regularly to executive development programmes both at home and internationally as well as consulting with major global and indigenous businesses.

About Ruth

Ruth has worked in HR for many years across the public and private sector.  She is currently HR Director for Novo Nordisk Ireland having previously held senior HR roles in Mylan, Vodafone and Sanofi.

Ruth has just completed a MSc in Organisational psychology from DCU and is a chartered member of the CIPD.
